Core works with government officials at the local, state and federal levels to promote forward thinking energy and green building policy. The Renewable Energy Mitigation Program (or REMP) is an example of the innovative policies that CORE has helped develop.

Helped develop comprehensive new residential energy codes for Pitkin County, the City of Aspen, the Town of Carbondale, and the Town of Eagle.
CORE helped the City of Aspen and Pitkin County develop the Efficient Building Code and the Renewable Energy Mitigation Program.
Introduced the Energy Rated Homes of Colorado Program in the Roaring Fork Valley.
CORE's Executive Director, Randy Udall served on Governor Romer's "Renewable Energy Task Force" from 1996-1998, as the chair of the Consumer Education and Demand subcommittee.
With CORE's encouragement, the City of Aspen joined the Cities for Climate Protection Campaign in 1997.
Pitkin County, the City of Aspen, Town of Basalt, Town of Carbondale, with the special consultation of CORE, have all adopted outdoor lighting ordinances. The Town of Carbondale implemented Main Street lighting designed by CORE staff.
CORE helped the Aspen Ski Company create the "Resource Conservation Manager" position.
