Sam Johnston

Energy Concierge, Residential Programs

Born and raised in Basalt, Sam developed a deep love for the natural environment and the Roaring Fork Valley from an early age. Growing up surrounded by mountains, rivers, and open spaces shaped her appreciation for the outdoors and inspired a strong commitment to caring for the place she calls home. In 2025, Sam graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder, with degrees in Environmental Studies and Sociology along with a couple certificates in Public Health. After briefly attending law school for environmental law, Sam realized community-based solutions and approaches to climate change better aligned with her values and career goals in the environmental space.

In her new role as an Energy Concierge, Sam works with residents to make home energy upgrades more accessible and approachable. She enjoys helping community members navigate electrification, energy efficiency improvements, and available resources, with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Sam is excited to be back working in the community where she grew up and is passionate about helping the Roaring Fork Valley build a more sustainable future. When she is not working you can find her skiing Snowmass, in the kitchen baking, or hiking the trails near Ruedi Reservoir where she lives.
