Gina McCrackin

Director of Regional Strategy

Gina grew up in Metro Detroit, Michigan and discovered her passion for solving social and environmental problems by bearing witness to the Flint Michigan Water Crisis. She moved to Colorado and received her B.S. in Human Dimensions of Natural Resources from Colorado State University, where she served as the Director of Environmental Affairs for her student government.

Graduate school pursuits brought Gina to Utah State University, where she received her M.S. in Environmental Sociology. She had the honor to learn from the Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation as she researched how Indigenous and Western communities are discussing climate change differently.

At CORE, Gina facilitates climate action initiatives in the built environment and beyond for the Eagle, Pitkin, and Garfield County region. She supports local governments in their building code planning, adoption, and implementation efforts, and provides expert advisory to the region on aligned climate action efforts. Gina’s knowledge and skillsets are vast, with most of her experience being in buildings and transportation decarbonization initiatives. Gina is skilled at facilitation, leading planning efforts, program and policy development and implementation, and grant management.

In Gina’s free time, you can find her hiking, camping, or skiing outdoors, in her garden, at a bluegrass concert, or sunbathing with her two cats, Merry and Pippin.
